Working today for a brighter, and better tomorrow
Maple Cross & West Hyde Residents Association are proud to support residents in their opposition to the Warehouse.
The warehouses were rejected by TRDC (Planning Application Number 19/1179/FUL) but developers have launched an Appeal. Â TRDC:Â 19/0053/REF
The Inspector has rejected the developers planning application, to the relief of the residents. The RA along with the Maple Lodge Nature Reserve will continue to monitor the site and oppose all bad development choices. Maple Cross residents deserve better!
PROPOSED WAREHOUSE DEVELOPMENT: MAPLE LODGE

DEVELOPERS LAUNCHED THEIR APPEAL IN DECEMBER 2019

HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ARE STRONGLY OPPOSING THIS RIDICULOUS PROPOSAL, THEY INCLUDE E.G. RESIDENTS AND THE MAPLE LODGE NATURE RESERVE.

Two enormous warehouses will cover 16500 sq.metres & will be over 16 metres high. This greenfield area will also be concreted over to provide parking for 160 vans and 40 HGVs!
This area was removed from greenbelt without the residents’ knowledge, in fact not even 1% of the areas’ population was directly informed!
This land is heavily contaminated and even the developers contractors stated that it is hazardous to human health.
The huge profits to be made are too tantalising for the developer, ensuring they steam ahead with their proposal despite the consequences that were cited by the opposition campaigners and the statutory consultees.
LIKELY NEGATIVE IMPACTS:
ASBESTOS CONTAMINATION
DESTRUCTION/CONTAMINATION OF DRINKING WATER SUPPLY
NATURE RESERVE WILL LOSE ITS LAKES & ASSOCIATED WILDLIFE DUE TO WATER STARVATION
RESIDENTS HOMES WILL BE TOWERED OVER RESULTING IN LOSS OF LIGHT
NUISANCE LAWS REGARDING SOUND AND LIGHT WOULD HAVE TO BE INVOKED DUE TO 24/7 OPERATION
RESULTING POLLUTION LEVELS WILL BE HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH
